Staying focused on your new internet business.

Staying focused on your new internet business.

In spite of what numerous people are telling you, making money on the internet is EASIER nowadays than ever before.

There are hundreds and thousands of people inundating the Internet all seeking to make money to help them endure the rising cost of living and these desperate economic times.  Unfortunately, many of these people leave Internet Marketing wore out and broke because they find themselves running in multiple directions at the same time, getting bombarded with information, and caught in the paralysis of analysis’ syndrome.

Internet Marketing is viewed by many as the “Gold Rush” of the 21st century, and in a lot of ways it is. The multitudes are hurrying into the market altogether unprepared, digging all over the place, not even setting up a tent, spending money, coming up with nothing, and then retiring from the field broke and broken.

I’m going to say this here and I’ll repeat it throughout this article.

Have a direction, stay focused, and keep at it.

I say this because the number one reason for failure in Internet Marketing is a lack of focus.  Folks get enamored with the get rich quick mindset and skip from idea to another, panicked they’re going to overlook the latest trick and not bring in a million dollars overnight.

If you would like to make your income on the internet then it’s critical that you concentrate on what you are doing, are not distracted, and persevere.

When you are working on building up your business, stay centered on what you are doing and what you want to accomplish.  DO NOT begin one project and get distracted and move to the next, until that project is concluded.

Do only ONE thing at a time, Do not write a report, do link exchanges, install affiliate software, and create a new website, all at the same time, as you will get NOTHING done.  Do just ONE SINGLE thing at a time and concentrate on it and you WILL succeed.

Map out want you want to do.  Make a flowchart if you want.  It doesn’t have to be perfect, or carved in stone.  Just something to visualize your path and your expected progress.

Create a to do list.  But, do it when you are not in the middle of being overwhelmed and swamped.  Its easier that way.

Don’t get got in the trap of ‘I must this buy the super duper whatever for research and creation tool before the price doubles or before it becomes obsolete’.  Even if you think you’ll make use of it somewhere down the road.  If you purchase it, it just adds to your ‘what should I be working on now, or studying now’ syndrome.  The product will still be there when you need it, or another better one will come along when you need it.

Find some guidance, either a mentor, or product, or system, and step back and figure out the best course of events to take in order to achieve what you want.

Industry research.

Take some time and just poke around the internet home based business industry. What types are products are out there?  How do people sell different products? Learn the jargon, (there are ebooks, and articles to help with this).  Find out the different types of tools and software to be used.  Are you more interested in marketing information products, or tools, or business systems.  If information, figure out your topics or niches.  What are you an expert at?  Or at least know what you’re talking about.

Categorize everything you find.  Set up ‘Favorites’ on your PC in a way that you can stay organized.  Put all of the ‘keyword’ documents, pdf’s, videos, and software in your ‘keyword’ folder.  Make as many different topic folders as you need.  Continually add new topic folders.

Email.

This is where you can get into real trouble.  If you’re not careful you can end up with two hours of email chores every day.  That might be fine if you’re still in the due diligence mode, but if you’re into the getting things done phase that’s very expensive time.

Yes, you should sign up on other peoples lists.  You can find some significant free materials that way.  Also free products, and software.  You can also note how things are being marketed.  The sales pages, the autoresponders, oto’s, and other marketing techniques

These are just some thoughts for you to think about.  Some ideas to help make your new adventure a little bit more manageable.
